Motion Graphics
Redaction is a motion graphic trailer for the typeface Redaction by Jeremy Mickel which was created for the exhibition and book of the same name by Titus Kaphar and Reginald Betts. The instrumental is composed by myself with a caucaphony of noises layered on top of the instrumental of Chain & Whips by Clipse ft. Kendrick Lamar.
PROCESS
Redaction was made to supplement a body of work that comemnted on the state of mass incarceration in the United States, people forgotten under files of a discriminatory government system. My motion piece wanted to reference this complex history visually with connection to the American Flag and prison bars while also displaying the features of the typeface itself. This included seven different redaction versions and unique space carved of letterforms.
